beehiiv vs GetResponse: a newsletter business against a marketing suite
OUR PICK
Our pick: GetResponse on price — $19 a month against beehiiv's $43 for a comparable list.
At 1,000 subscribers, GetResponse's Starter plan is $19 a month for unlimited messages, by its own page's wording. beehiiv's first paid tier, Scale, is $43 a month or $517 billed annually. beehiiv's free Launch plan covers up to 2,500 subscribers, which undercuts both — but the moment you pay, GetResponse is less than half the price.
The other way: Pick beehiiv if the newsletter is the product. Its paid tiers exist to monetise an audience — advertising, subscriptions, referral growth — which GetResponse does not attempt. Paying $43 for tools that help the newsletter earn is a different purchase from paying $19 to send email, and comparing them on price alone misses the point of beehiiv.

How to read this page: every number below was read from the vendor’s own public pricing page on the date shown, and the pages are re-checked daily. Currencies differ because that is what each vendor showed an EU visitor. Some links on this page are affiliate links — if you subscribe through one we earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Per
our method, that never changes a number or a verdict. Source links always point to the vendor’s plain page.
The two pricing pages, side by side
These two are not quoted in the same currency. beehiiv is priced in USD and GetResponse in EUR, as each page showed it to us. Figures below are what each vendor charges, not a conversion — ranking them against each other depends on the rate your bank applies, and paying in a foreign currency usually adds a fee on top.

What the record says
These two are priced as if they compete, and they mostly don't. GetResponse sells email marketing to businesses: its page describes prices 'bracketed by list size, starting at $19 per month for unlimited messages to 1,000 subscribers,' rising through Marketer at $59 and Creator at $69. beehiiv sells the infrastructure of a newsletter business — its Launch plan is free to 2,500 subscribers, then Scale is $43 a month and Max $96.
If you only want to send, the ranking is simple and GetResponse wins it. $19 against $43 at a comparable list size is not close, and GetResponse's annual billing pulls Starter to $15.58 a month while beehiiv's Scale on annual billing is $517 for the year, which beehiiv frames as saving $71 against monthly. Two and a half times the price to send the same emails is a real gap.
What that comparison ignores is why anyone pays beehiiv. Its paid tiers are aimed at turning an audience into revenue rather than at sending capacity, and a newsletter earning from advertising or paid subscriptions is buying something GetResponse does not sell at any price. The right question is not which is cheaper but whether your newsletter is a channel for a business or is the business.
One practical note for readers outside the United States. Our same-day reads from three countries show GetResponse quoting €16 in Germany and £13 in the United Kingdom against its $19 in the United States, while beehiiv quoted the same US dollars everywhere. So GetResponse's advantage on price is wider in Europe than the dollar figures suggest — a British reader is comparing £13 against $43, not $19 against $43.
Beyond the price tag
Free tiers
beehiiv's Launch plan is free with no card required, up to 2,500 subscribers, with unlimited email sends. We record no permanently free sending tier for GetResponse. Below 2,500 subscribers, beehiiv is the cheaper option by the width of $19 a month.
First paid tier
GetResponse Starter: $19/mo at 1,000 subscribers, $15.58 on annual billing. beehiiv Scale: $43/mo, $517 billed annually (beehiiv's page frames this as saving $71 a year). beehiiv Max is $96/mo or $1,151 annually.
What the money buys
GetResponse's ladder climbs into marketing tooling — segmentation, automation, ecommerce. beehiiv's climbs into monetisation — the tools for a newsletter to earn from its own audience. These are different products competing for the same subscription line on your card.
Currency
Read on the same day from three countries: GetResponse quoted $19 in the US, £13 in the UK and €16 in Germany. beehiiv quoted US dollars to all three. Outside the United States, GetResponse's price advantage is larger than a dollar comparison implies.
Questions people actually search
Which is cheaper?
Under 2,500 subscribers, beehiiv, because its Launch plan is free. Above that, GetResponse by a wide margin: $19 a month against $43, or £13 against $43 if you are billed in the UK. Both price by list size, so check each at your own subscriber count.
Is beehiiv worth more than double the price?
Only if you intend to earn from the newsletter itself. beehiiv's paid tiers are built around monetising an audience — advertising, paid subscriptions, referral growth. If your newsletter supports a business that makes money elsewhere, you are paying for tools you will not use.
How much does annual billing save?
GetResponse: Starter drops from $19 to $15.58 a month, roughly 18%, with the same discount across Marketer and Creator. beehiiv: Scale is $517 billed annually against $43 a month, which beehiiv's page describes as saving $71 a year; Max is $1,151 annually against $96 a month.
Does beehiiv charge in euros or pounds?
No. It quoted the same US dollar figures to our readers in Germany and the United Kingdom as in the United States. GetResponse does localise, to €16 and £13 respectively, so the comparison genuinely differs by country.
