Where they differ
- Cheapest way in: Wix at $14/mo, against Squarespace at $25/mo. That is the entry price in this market on the dates shown, not a judgement about which suits you.
- Free plans: only Wix publishes one — a plan priced at zero, not a trial.
- How far each ladder goes: Squarespace tops out at $139/mo, Wix at $79/mo. A deeper ladder is not a worse deal — it is a bill that keeps climbing if you keep growing.
- Recently moved: Squarespace (2026-09-23), Wix (2026-10-08). A change only counts once a second clean read agrees.
- Squarespace: It bills by country — entry £16/mo to a UK reader and €17/mo in the eurozone, from our same-day reads.
- Wix: It bills by country — entry £12/mo to a UK reader and €16.66/mo in the eurozone, from our same-day reads.
How to choose in this category
- First-term discounts are common here — the renewal figure is the one you will live with.
- Free plans usually carry the vendor’s branding and domain.
- A site is hard to move; weigh the exit cost before the entry price.
