Runway vs Synthesia
Both ladders below were read from the vendors’ own pricing pages, in this market, on the dates shown. Nothing is converted: what you see is what each page showed a reader here.
What each one is
Runwaysite ↗pricing ↗
An AI video generation and editing tool aimed at filmmakers and motion designers. Paid plans start at $15/mo (Standard); a free plan exists. The ladder we hold runs 3 paid tiers, topping out at $95/mo (Max). We read the same $15/mo in every market we check, so this vendor does not price by country. It quotes USD here rather than local currency, so your bank sets the conversion. Its published prices moved on 2026-09-06 — the change log holds the rows.
Synthesiasite ↗pricing ↗
An AI video platform for corporate training and internal communication, built around presenter avatars. Paid plans start at £19/mo (Starter); a free plan exists. The ladder we hold runs 2 paid tiers, topping out at £69/mo (Pro). It bills by country — entry $14/mo to a US reader and €19/mo in the eurozone, from our same-day reads. Its published prices moved on 2026-10-03 — the change log holds the rows.

Where they differ
- Cheapest way in: Runway at $15/mo, against Synthesia at £19/mo. That is the entry price in this market on the dates shown, not a judgement about which suits you.
- Free plans: both publish one — a plan priced at zero, not a trial. What each caps differs.
- How far each ladder goes: Runway tops out at $95/mo, Synthesia at £69/mo. A deeper ladder is not a worse deal — it is a bill that keeps climbing if you keep growing.
- Recently moved: Runway (2026-09-06), Synthesia (2026-10-03). A change only counts once a second clean read agrees.
- Runway: We read the same $15/mo in every market we check, so this vendor does not price by country. It quotes USD here rather than local currency, so your bank sets the conversion.

How to choose in this category
- Minutes, credits and avatar seats are not interchangeable — work out which unit binds you before comparing prices.
- Two plans at the same monthly figure rarely include the same output; the allowance is the comparison, not the price.
- Check what a free row actually allows before treating it as a plan you could stay on.
